Legendary mega-rarity by Johnnie Campbell's Orchestra recorded in Kansas City in 1925. The Flexo label was established in KC in the mid-20's and produced "unbreakable" discs mostly by local talent of little interest, but made a handful of red-hot jazz selections of which this is a prime example. "Charleston Cabin" is a stomping instrumental version of "St. James Infirmary" and features solos (including a lengthy one by an incredible hot cornet) as well as a great Dixieland-style ride out. The reverse, "California Blues," is sung by Billy Adair with elaborate barrelhouse piano accompaniment by Tike Kearney. Interesting lyrics mention Chinatown and drug use... not exactly the sort of thing the larger record companies were putting out at the time! Condition is around E- with a few small clusters of light scratches - it is "as found" in its original sleeve. Unlike many Flexo records which have a tendency to warp this one is completely flat and plays very well. Please contact with any questions.
