'Following the staggering reunion triumph at the O2, which I was lucky enough to be at, with interest in Led Zeppelin greater than ever, with the site for the Ahmettribute.com tribute concert receiving an unbelievable 120 million hits, with 25 million people apparently registering for a Zeppelin ticket, its as good a time as any to invest in an original copy early press of this classic Zep album.'

Led Zeppelin was recorded in October 1968 at Olympic Studios in London and released on Atlantic Records on 12 January 1969. The album featured integral contributions from each of the group's four musicians and established Led Zeppelin's fusion of blues and rock. Led Zeppelin also created a large and devoted following for the band, with their unique heavy sound endearing them to a section of the counterculture on both sides of the Atlantic.

Led Zeppelin had a fully formed, distinctive sound from the outset, as their eponymous debut illustrates. Taking the heavy, distorted electric blues of Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, and Cream to an extreme, Zeppelin created a majestic, powerful brand of guitar rock constructed around simple, memorable riffs and lumbering rhythms. But the key to the group's attack was shaded and textured, filled with alternating dynamics and tempos.

As Led Zeppelin proves, the group was capable of such multi-layered music from the start. Although the extended psychedelic blues of "Dazed and Confused," "You Shook Me," and "I Can't Quit You Baby" often gather the most attention, the remainder of the album is a better indication of what would come later.

"Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" shifts from folky verses to pummeling choruses; "Good Times Bad Times" and "How Many More Times" have groovy, bluesy shuffles; "Your Time Is Gonna Come" is an anthemic hard rocker; "Black Mountain Side" is pure English folk; and "Communication Breakdown" is a frenzied rocker with a nearly punkish attack. The album brought the band exploding into the public consciousness, and marked a significant turning point in the evolution of contemporary music.

ALBUM PLAYED FOR GRADING:

Yes – brilliant! - TOP AUDIO sound quality throughout!

This rare record looks fantastic and sounds unplayed. Strong, undistorted sound free of any loud pops, clicks or distortion. Channels are clean and unstressed. The music jumps out, with incredible definition and clarity, particularly on the percussion instruments, and vocals which come through with tremendous power.

This really is an unbelievable piece, with no hiss or loud pops or continuous unwanted sounds what so ever. This great record plays with TOP AUDIO audio - super bright sound clear of surface noise or sound interruptions. This RARE MONO press has strong undistorted audio, with Super clear sound and minimal background static. It really sounds great and plays with great sound separation and clarity! I will give a detailed account below:

Beginning with the iconic 'Good Times Bad Times', the music bursts in with great clear audio, no pops or clicks and nice clean run ins. Some very light occasional static only. There are no pops or clicks, or even light static tics. Moving into the wonderful 'Babe I'm gonna Leave You', which demonstrates Zeppelin's incredible subtle production layering, with notes and effects that are usually lost on most even relatively played vinyls. Here the audio sings out with amazing clarity. For such a quiet track this is just an awesome audio performance . Not a single loud pop or click and no background static at all. The music is just incredibly bright and sharp .

'You Shook Me ' bursts out with virtual silence in the run ins and quiet areas . The sound really is brilliant and clear. Great music with great clarity, and so hard to find with this type of sound. 'Dazed and Confused' again plays with super clear sound, and the heavily layered quiet instrumental section, sounds great. The long bass intro is so clear and sharp, barely a hint of surface sound. Superb clear bright sound, amazing.

Side 2. comes in with the incredible 'Your Time Is Gonna Come', following nice clean run ins, the sound is great. The delicate 'Black Mountain Side' sounds incredible. No loud pops or clicks and no surface sound. Amazing for such a paired dow track. Back with the upbeat almost punky 'Communication Breakdown', the audio is just superb, with barely any audible static and clear vocal layering. No obvious sound interference . 'I cant Quit You Babe' alternates between the delicate and rockous, this track can be a real test on this album, and here it sings out, with great clarity and an amazing lack of surface sound. This variable track is nearly always blighted with loud pops, clicks, buzzing crackle and distortion, but not here. 'How many More Times', rounds off the album, again to the same incredibly high audio standard. Superb clear sound. No loud pops or clicks , just truly incredible super bright clear audio. Fantastic !

All the way through every track plays with incredible definition. A total lack of loud pops, clicks, interference, and certainly no distortion anywhere on this great record, makes this a truly incredible pressing of this ultimate rarity. The music jumps out, with definition and clarity, the vocals come through with tremendous power. Its the same with the bass guitar and drums, whilst the guitars multi layers come through crisp and clear. The tonal quality and incredible lack of any surface sound make this a sensational pressing. With the clear and extra loud First cut engineering giving the audio a vibrant sound which cannot be beaten.

This great record plays with no loud pops or clicks, and absolutely No repeating noises or Sticks. A great all round example of this great vinyl that would be near impossible to ever better. A staggering first stereo mix, unlike the re-issues which lack the impact.

All our records are play tested on highly sensitive equipment to ensure the sound quality and accuracy of description. We aim to give a precise and concise description of the sound, pointing out the slightest defect so that you know exactly what you are buying. We aim to describe all records as accurately as possible, and offer a full refund on return if for any reason you are not completely happy with the item description.

VINYL SOUND - PLEASE NOTE:

Highest quality vinyl with clear sound is rare, and what we always aim for. We only sell records that play with TOP AUDIO performance; super clear sound uninterrupted by hiss or other interference. Even with the cleanest pressing you will find occasional static or occasional light tics during playback, caused by a build of dust in the grooves. This is clearly different from the distortion, loud pops, repeating tics or clicks that are found on heavily played and worn pieces of vinyl. Any static build up will reduce when played, and we advise a light clean between plays for optimal performance.
