BACH : SIX UNACCOMPANIED CELLO SUITES
HENRI HONEGGER
1972 VALOIS STEREO CMB 22

Overall a very nice copy of this stunning sounding recording. I have listened in detail to each side and each record is graded as follows:

MB 874

SIDE 1: EX : Visually EX with minimal sleeve removal markings. Plays NM except for approx 8 soft tics and 1 click so will grade overall EX
SIDE 2: VG : Visually VG with a couple of light scratches visible when viewed at an angle plus a couple of spindle trails on the label. Tracks 1 & 2 play EX, Tracks 3 & 4 VG- with light background crackle and soft tics/clicks (12 of which which are repetitive) and tracks 5 & 6 are VG+ with some light background noise. These don't overpower the music but are audible given the nature of the recording.

MB 875

SIDE 1: NM : Visually NM. Plays NM
SIDE 2: NM : Visually NM. Plays NM

MB 876

SIDE 1: EX: Visually EX+ with some very small markings visible when viewed at an angle. Plays NM except for two clicks at the start of the the run in groove and a short passage of light background crackle during track 5. Grades EX
SIDE 2: EX- : Visually EX with some small markings visible when viewed at an angle. Generally plays NM except for some five clicks in tracks 4 & 5 plus some background crackle. Grades as EX-.

Box & Insert
The box is in EX- condition with some rubbing and minimal marking. The insert is EX- with a few small spots and a depression caused by the weight of the records (see pictures).

Happy bidding!

Please note I use UK Record Collector grading system for all albums with the addition of the accepted Near Mint category:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.
The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

  • NEAR MINT: The record appears new but is known to have been played because the label has light spindle marks or because it has come from a previous owner and is assumed to have been played by them
  • EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
  • VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
  • GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
  • FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
  • POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
  • BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler
I try to be as accurate as possible, however, we are all human so if there are any problems please let me know.
