Janos Starker Bach Suites For The Unaccompanied Cello Mercury OL3-116 PROMO COPY
Up for your consideration is a one of a kind recording for the classical music enthusiast. This is a mono promotional copy of the Bach unaccompanied cello suites played by Janos Starker. Included in this set is the box set with 3 LP's, a promotional 2 page letter dated February 15, 1966 from Mercury Classical News with the detailed timings, the booklet, and additional promo letter... Everything that you see in the pictures. The box is stamped "Promotional Copy Not For Sale". The record labels are much different than the ones that are available in the retail market. They are gold, and they state "For Broadcast Only - Not For Sale".
The Matrix numbers are:Side 1 - MG50445A RFR-1Side 2 - MG50445B RFR-1Side 3 - MG50446A RFR-1Side 4 - MG50446B RFR-1Side 5 - MG50447A RFR-1Side 6 - MG50447B RFR-1
The records are all graded EX or better, they only show light handling, light spindle marks show these were only played a few times. The inner booklet is EX. The box is VG+, Possibly Strong VG Due to the seam holding the 2 sides together clean split, but is an easy repair, My stupid hands did that by mistake the 1st time I opened this a few weeks ago when I first got this, but like I said, an easy fix if you choose so. Besides that, there is only a few light dings, and a small split on the bottom seam, and a small one starting at the top. I personally say this is a beautiful cover, but with true grading, its imperfections may drop it as low as strong VG. See the photos.
Overall a great treasure, with just a few slight imperfections!
